Paloma Old-Fashioned Recipe

This Paloma Old-Fashioned offers up a smoky, citrusy fusion of two classic cocktails. A great year-round sipper for the whole crowd.

Ingredients

  • 1/8 of ruby red grapefruit, plus 1/2” thick wheel for garnish
  • 5 rosemary sprigs
  • 2 oz reposado tequila
  • 1/2 oz rosemary simple syrup
  • 5-6 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
  • 1/2 peel of lime for garnish

Instructions

  1. Torch 3 rosemary sprigs until smoking, then cover with the glass drink will be served in. Set aside.
  2. Muddle 1/8 grapefruit in mixing glass. Add tequila, simple syrup, bitters, then ice. Stir until chilled, but don’t over-dilute.
  3. Remove glass from rosemary and add 1 large ice cube (or small cubes), then grapefruit wheel and remaining 2 rosemary sprigs. Strain liquid into glass. Top with lime peel and serve.
