Homemade Garlic Knots

  1. In a stand mixer, add yeast, water and sugar. Let mixture proof for 5 minutes or so.
  2. Using dough hook attachment, stir in the salt, olive oil, and 1 cup of flour. Stir about a third of the flour in at a time. Dough is ready when it doesn’t stick to your fingers anymore. Grease a bowl with oil or nonstick spray. Cover and let rest for 1 1/2 hours or until doubled in size. Punch down and let rest another 10 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into an 8″ long rope, about 1″ thick. Tie each rope into a knot.
  4. Place knots on the parchment lined baking sheets. Cover with tea towels and let rise for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 425ºF.
  6. Bake knots for 18-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

Butter Sauce

  1. In a small pan, add butter, oil, and garlic over medium heat. Stir occasionally. Once garlic is cooked, add parsley, salt, and pepper.
  2. Drizzle butter sauce over knots. Enjoy!
