This Homemade Naan recipe is super easy to make, and it’s the perfect accompaniment for hummus, tabouleh, and baba ganoush, or as the shell for your favorite wrap!

  • 1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm whole milk
  • 1/2 cup plain whole milk yogurt
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • Grapeseed oil

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
Homemade Naan

  1. In a large bowl, lightly whisk together yeast, sugar, water, and milk. Let sit for at least 5 minutes or until yeast starts to foam and is fragrant.
  2. Stir in yogurt until well-combined. Mix in flour and salt. Knead dough until smooth (about 3 minutes). Transfer dough to greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let dough rest for at least an hour at room temperature.
  3. Heat 2 Tbsp oil cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll each piece to about 1/4” thickness. Brush top of dough with oil, then place oil side-down in skillet. Cook for about 2 minutes or until dough puffs up. Brush top of dough with more oil. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes or so. Remove from heat. Repeat until dough is gone. Serve immediately with an optional topping of cracked sea salt.
