Italian Fried Meatballs Recipe
Food Recipes | Appetizers | Christmas | Gameday | Italian | Winter
This Italian Fried Meatballs recipe takes the traditional meatball and, well, fries it. Because everything is better fried, right? The meatball itself is made from 50/50 ground beef and Italian sausage and a whole lot of garlic, onion, Italian herbs, and gooey cheese. And don’t forget the milk—never forget the milk. That’s what keeps these meatballs so succulent.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
Italian Fried Meatballs
- In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except mozzarella. Be sure not to overwork the ground meat, as you’ll end up with a tougher meatball (not tender and juicy).
- Working one at time, take some meatball mixture and form a 2” diameter patty in your palm. Place a cube of mozzarella in the center, then fold the mixture around it and roll it into a ball shape. Set aside on parchment paper.
- Place flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate bowls. To bread the meatballs, dredge in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Set aside on parchment paper.
- Add ~2” deep of oil to a large frying pan and heat to 325º. Be sure to maintain 300º-325º throughout the frying process. Working 5 or 6 meatballs at a time, fry for 5 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oil and set on paper towel-lined dish to drain. Serve immediately garnished with shredded parmesan cheese and marinara sauce for dipping.
