Muffuletta with Giardiniera Sauce Recipe

This Muffuletta with Giardiniera Sauce recipe takes the New Orleans classic sandwich and swaps out the olive tapenade for a giardiniera sauce made of chopped giardiniera, mayonnaise, Dijon, garlic and Italian herbs.

Ingredients

Giardiniera Sauce

  • 1 cup mayo
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp oregano, dried
  • 1 Tbsp basil, dried
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 16 oz jar of giardiniera, roughly diced

 

Muffuletta Build

  • Muffuletta Build
  • 1 boule loaf, halved height-wise
  • Giardiniera sauce
  • Pepperoni, sliced
  • Genoa salami, sliced
  • Black Forest Ham, sliced
  • Provolone cheese, sliced

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
Muffuletta with Giardiniera Sauce

Giardiniera Sauce

  1. Combine all ingredients except giardiniera. Whisk until smooth. Mix in giardiniera. Serve.

 

Muffuletta Build

  1. Taking the top half of the boule, pick out some of the bread so that the inside starts to take on a concave shape.
  2. Slather both halves of the bread with giardiniera.
  3. Lay the salami slices in circular, overlapping fashion around the bottom half of the bread. Repeat with pepperoni, ham, then cheese. Then repeat with all four once again.
  4. Top with other half of bread. Cut into quarters. Enjoy!
