Rustic Italian Sausage Sandwich Recipe

And no flight delay or cancellation can stop you from stuffing your face with these—sausage links charred up on your favorite Charbroil grill with a side burner, where you’re cooking up some creamy kale, cannellini beans, and sun-dried tomatoes for topping.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 head garic, minced
  • 1/4 onion, diced
  • 12 oz kale, destemmed
  • 15 oz can cannellini beans
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Better Than Bullion
  • 1/2 cup sliced sundried tomatoes

  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 5 sweet Italian sausage links
  • 5 steak rolls (or preferred hoagie-style bun)

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
Rustic Italian Sausage Sandwich

  1. On Char-Broil grill sideburner, heat oil in large pan over medium heat. Sauté onion until tender, about 5 mins. Add garlic and sauté till fragrant, about 2 mins.
  2. Stir in kale and sauté until it begins to wilt (but make sure to leave enough texture for a good chew). Stir in Better Than Bullion and sundried tomatoes, then cook for ~2 mins. Stir in heavy cream and beans, then salt and pepper. Bring to simmer then continue simmering for another 2-3 mins. Turn burner to low and stir occasionally until ready to serve.
  3. Preheat main grill burners to medium heat.
  4. Grill sausages on both sides (flipping every few minutes) until at least 160ºF internal temp. Remove from grill and let rest at least 5 mins.
  5. To build each Rustic Italian Sausage Sandwich: Place sausage inside bun, then top with kale and bean mixture to taste. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Enjoy!
