Loaded Hawaiian Pizza Recipe

Our Loaded Hawaiian Pizza—yeah. We know. Pineapple. But have you tried it with ham, jalapeño, BBQ sauce and Mt. Olive’s Simply Vidalia Onion Strips? You haven’t. We invented this pizza. Well, maybe not INVENTED. But surely this is the first time you’ve seen Simply Vidalia Onion Strips on a pizza, right? Along with the BBQ sauce, they steer this pie in a Southern direction with some tang, sweet, and heat. And don’t worry. We have professionals on hand in case anybody faints from the pineapple.

Ingredients

  • 1 ball pizza dough, divided in half for two ~14” pizzas
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 head garlic, minced
  • Low-moisture mozzarella cheese, freshly shredded
  • Brown sugar smoked ham, cut into 1” squares
  • Fresh pineapple, chopped
  • Mt Olive Pickled Vidalia Onion Strips
  • 2 jalapeños, deseeded and thinly sliced
  • Sharp cheddar, freshly grated
  • BBQ sauce

Ceramic Grill Instructions

  1. Preheat grill with pizza stone to 700º.
  2. In a small pan over medium-high heat, sauté garlic until just before it begins to get golden. Remove from heat.
  3. Roll out dough and top with sautéed garlic and oil mixture. Top with mozzarella, ham, pineapple, onion strips, jalapeño, cheddar, and BBQ sauce.
  4. Place already topped pizza onto pizza stone and cook for 60-second increments, rotating pizza each time. Pizza should take about 2 1/2 – 3 minutes until done with cheese just beginning to get golden brown and crust set. Let cool for a minute or two. Slice and serve.
  5. Repeat with other ball of pizza dough.

 

Conventional Oven Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF. Roll out dough and par-bake on baking sheet for 8 minutes. Remove from oven.
  2. In a small pan over medium-high heat, sauté garlic until just before it begins to get golden. Remove from heat.
  3. Top dough with sautéed garlic and oil mixture. Top with mozzarella, ham, pineapple, onion strips, jalapeño, cheddar, and BBQ sauce.
  4. Return to oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is just beginning to get golden brown and crust is set. Remove from oven and let cool for a minute or two. Slice and serve.
  5. Repeat with other ball of pizza dough.
