The Hangry Beet Cocktail Recipe

The Hangry Beet Cocktail started as a random request by Sarah to “do something with beets and grapefruit”.

Challenge accepted.

The first version: “Tastes like I’m drinking healthy juice.”

HEALTHY?!

Well, the second take landed and we’ve bridged the earthy beet and bitter grapefruit with bright ginger, savory thyme, and a little balsamic finesse.

It’s still healthy tho, brother. Say your prayers and drink your vitamins.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz orange liqueur
  • 1/8 oz thyme liqueur
  • 1/2 oz fresh beet juice
  • 1 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp balsamic glaze
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1/4 oz simple syrup
  • 2-3 dashes grapefruit bitters
  • Orange peel, for garnish
  • Thyme sprig, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake until well-chilled. Pour into a coupe glass then garnish with orange peel and thyme sprig.
